Research & Development

2010

Tron Legacy Disney.

Augmented Reality Engine. 2010

Augmented reality was all the hype a decade ago despite requiring inconvenient “tracking markers” to work. Until just recently, mobile devices couldn’t perform complex computer vision operations in real-time, and to circumvent these limitations in 2010, Hassan developed a high performance Augmented Reality Engine to promote a marketing experience for the Tron Legacy movie.

2011

Krommy.

Snap Filters before Snapchat. 2011

After releasing Kromath, the first real-time Green Screen compositing application for iOS, Hassan furthered the research into computer vision and developed an early concept of an entertainment app resembling Snapchat filter yet almost a decade ahead.

2013

Onelapse.

Live Photos Before Apple. 2013

Following Ultrakam’s success, Hassan envisioned a new type of media object that would blend the high-resolution video with the experience of taking photos. “Taking photos from videos” as He described it, would allow the user to choose that perfect moment just after capturing the event. This concept was 2 years later productized by Apple as “Live Photos” and released with the iPhone 6s in 2015

Cinekolor.

High-End Color Correction Before Adobe. 2014

Hassan developed Cinekolor after being challenged by their VFX peers to create an application that would be able to apply professional 3-stage color correction and then export the style (3D LUT) in a format compatible with High-End film production software. The application was launched and featured all over the world in 2014.

2014

Renderfarm X.

Patent Pending Video Rendering Platform. 2018

When faced with the challenge of delegating the slow rendering process of video effects from the iPhone application into the FlyrTV servers, Hassan envisioned a revolutionary hardware and software architecture that allowed to reuse the same rendering engine powering the iOS application but provide a scalable backend-side rendering solution. The company was acquired in 2018.

The tech was presented at WWDC20 Labs and approved for the early access program for the coming Apple Silicon tech.
